What is Lutris?
Lutris is a free, open-source game launcher for Linux. It helps you install and organise Linux games, Windows games, and games that run through emulators.
It’s useful when your collection is spread across different stores or includes games with their own installers.
Getting Lutris
Install Lutris from Flathub (opens in a new tab), or follow the Lutris download instructions (opens in a new tab) for your distro.
If you’re using a distro package, those instructions also cover the Wine setup needed for Windows games. The Flatpak version doesn’t need a separate Wine installation.
How does it help with games?
Lutris has community-made installers that handle much of a game’s setup for you. It can also help install launchers such as Battle.net and Ubisoft Connect.
It uses tools such as Wine for Windows games and emulators for older systems. You can manage these from Lutris rather than setting up each one separately.
Some games still need extra setup or won’t work. For multiplayer games, check Anti-Cheat before installing.
